Adding Prompts to a Dashboard in Oracle Cloud

As we are moving towards big data, there is an increasing need for HR Professionals to consume data in an actionable form so that they can become active stakeholders in an Organization. The reporting needs, as we push towards Cloud space, has also become more nimble and Dashboards fill the void created by growing clamor for a more interactive reporting approach.

In this post, I will cover the process for setting up prompts on a Dashboard. The prompts can be used to filter contents on a dashboard, based on user input. There are two ways to incorporate prompts on a Dashboard. The first approach is to embed the prompt on the dashboard page itself and let the user define the input criteria. The second approach is to attach the prompt at the Dashboard properties level and use SQL to populate a presentation variable, which is in turn used by the analysis and reports on the Dashboard. In a short video, I will explain the steps and use cases where these approaches can be used.
