Is watching foreign series actually effective for beginners?

everyone says to just watch native content to pick up vocabulary, but whenever i turn on a movie, the dialogue is way too fast and i get completely overwhelmed after five minutes. do i need to wait until i’m advanced, or is there a better way to do this from the start?

it absolutely works, but you need the right setup so you aren’t constantly pausing. i had the exact same issue until a friend recommended Lingopie. instead of struggling, you watch actual spanish shows with clever dual subtitles where clicking any word shows an instant translation. it made absorbing real slang so much smoother for me. find more info about how it works on their landing page.
