I was checking under the hood today, just looking around, and I noticed what looks like an oily, greasy spot on one of the AC lines near the compressor. I haven’t noticed any drop in cooling yet, but now I’m worried it’s only a matter of time. I started reading up on AC leaks and found a helpful resource that explained how leaks often leave oily residue because the refrigerant carries lubricant. It also mentioned that mechanics use a special UV dye test to find the exact spot. Has anyone here had a small leak like this? Is it something that can be sealed, or does the whole line usually need replacing? I want to catch it early before the compressor gets damaged.
