Fusion Security in Oracle Cloud ERP

Fusion Security in Oracle Cloud ERP – Concepts and Example

This article explains the concepts of Fusion Security in Oracle Cloud ERP. Oracle cloud uses Role Based Access Control (RBAC). The Security console is used to manage roles. A few key points to remember when using the Security Console:

  • Security Console is accessible when you have the IT Security Manager role
  • Custom roles can be created from scratch or you can copy a delivered role and make appropriate edits
  • There are 4 key types of roles in Cloud:
    • Job Role
    • Duty Role
    • Abstract Role
    • Data Role
  • Duty roles inherits other duty roles and/or aggregate privileges
  • Never assign a Job role to any user. Always assign the data role or the abstract role. For both cases, appropriate security profiles must be associated with the roles before assigning to users.
  • All delivered roles are prefixed with ORA_
  • From Release 12 onward, delivered roles cannot be deleted or modified.
